Warren Ruggiero Wake Forest offensive coordinator

Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson and offensive coordinator Warren Ruggiero have led one of the most explosive offenses in college football in 2021. The Demon Deacons are third nationally averaging 42.9 points per game. Wake Forest is ninth nationally averaging 483.6 total yards per game.

Ruggiero played QB at Delaware from 1985-88 before beginning his coaching career. Prior to Wake Forest, the first FBS OC job for Ruggiero was from 2009 through 2013 at Bowling Green. After a slow start with the Wake Forest offense, Ruggiero has led the Demon Deacons to a top 30 finish in the last five seasons.

Wake Forest QBs Jamie Newman and Sam Hartman have thrived under Ruggiero. Newman completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 2,868 yards, 26 TDs and 11 interceptions with 574 rushing yards and another six TDs. Hartman has completed 58.1 percent of his passes for 8,749 yards, 67 TDs and 25 interceptions.

Hartman also has 706 career rushing yards and 15 TDs. The Wake Forest offense led the Demon Deacons to their first ACC Atlantic Division title since winning the conference title in 2006. Wake Forest will play Pittsburgh and QB Kenny Pickett in the title game. Miami defeated Pittsburgh earlier this season.
