David Lake of Inside the U is reporting that the Miami Hurricanes will name Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich to the same position on Thursday morning. The addition of Radakovich to pair with recently hired football coach Mario Cristobal gives Miami one of the highest-profile tandems in the country.

Radakovich will have spent nine years and one week as the Clemson AD. Prior to Clemson, Radakovich was the AD at American from 2000-2001 and Georgia Tech from 2006 through 2012. The Clemson athletic department grew exponentially in the nine years under Radakovich. Radakovich began his career at Miami in 1983.

From 1983 through 1985, Radakovich was the Miami Athletic Business Manager. During his two-year tenure with Miami, Radakovich was part of a staff that won the Hurricanes’ first National Championship in football under Howard Schnellenberger. Radakovich was on the Miami staff with Jimmy Johnson succeeded Schnellenberger.

Clemson has raised more than $200 million in contributions under Radakovich. The Miami Hurricanes hiring Radakovich will impact far more than the football program. Under Radakovich, Clemson won multiple ACC Championships and had numerous NCAA postseason appearances during the 2020-21 school year.

Clemson won National Championships in football following the 2016 and 2018 seasons under Radakovich. Under Radakovich, Clemson’s basketball arena, Littlejohn Coliseum had a $63 renovation and Tigers opened a new football complex in 2017 that set the standard nationally.

Radakovich was the SportsBusiness Journal Athletic Director of the Year in 2017 after being a finalist in 2015. Several reports have stated that Radakovich could earn about $3 million per year. That would make him among the highest-paid athletic directors nationally. As a private school, Miami does not have to disclose salaries.

Next. Cristobal has extensive history signing five-star players. dark

During his first stint with Miami, Radakovich earned a Master of Business Administration. Clemson reportedly increased its revenue from $69 million in 2014 to $120 million in 2019. Radakovich will likely oversee more upgrades to the Miami athletic department that Cristobal discussed in his introductory press conference.
