Sure there were some mistakes but the team was on a good path and he had the players battling. There was almost no reason to make a change, almost.

What could possibly have tipped the scales? Mario Cristobal. Cristobal was a player at Miami during my days at The U is well known for being one of the best recruiters in the country.

The idea of bringing somebody like Cristobal back home was far too good an opportunity to pass up. A few years ago this would not even be possible.

By now we all know ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit called out the University of Miami on national TV and this is something the school took seriously and even personally.

Tasking his most trusted advisors University of Miami Julio Frenk gave the Hurricanes the one thing missing, which was the financial support needed to make Miami once again an elite program. I met President. Frenk at a Canes game and found him to be one of the most interesting people I have ever met.

After checking Twitter about every 15 minutes for what seemed like an eternity we finally received the announcement that Cristobal was coming home on Monday afternoon. What a sense of relief. Being just a loyal and longtime fan without any qualifications to have a real opinion I of course had my opinion too.
