The Miami football program came in late for the recruitment of four-star St. Louis wide receiver Kevin Coleman, but the Hurricanes are pushing Florida State for a commitment. Coleman is the 61st ranked player nationally, ninth-ranked WR and top-ranked in Missouri in 2022 according to the Rivals.Com rankings.

Coleman is trending at 100 percent to Florida State via Rivals and has all five of his crystal balls from 247 projecting him to the Seminoles. The most recent crystal ball projected to Coleman was on September 27. Miami started to become a serious contender in Coleman’s recruitment when they hired Mario Cristobal last week.

Cristobal was a serious contender for Coleman when he was at Oregon. Miami is expected to sign four-star WR Isaiah Horton. Three-star WR Landon Ibieta who has been committed to Miami since July is widely expected to flip to LSU. Cristobal has reportedly not contacted Ibieta since being hired by Miami last week.

Rivals.Com analyzed the competition between the Florida State and Miami football programs. Coleman reportedly had a productive visit to Coral Gables this week. Coleman is going into his Miami recruitment only knowing that Cristobal will be in Coral Gables and not who the Hurricanes offensive coordinator or WR coach will be.

"“Figuring out Coleman’s future destination has been difficult but this looks like it could be down to Miami or Florida State unless there’s a surprise coming. The coaching change at Oregon hurts the Ducks and the rumor is Coleman isn’t in love with Eugene as much as other places. The Miami visit this weekend went really well and he could end up playing for the same coaches he would’ve at Oregon but at Miami now. Florida State has been a huge mainstay and coach Mike Norvell has made him a big priority as well so it feels like a two-team battle right now.”"

Miami loses WRs Mike Harley and Charleston Rambo but returns a lot of talent at the position. The Hurricanes could go to the transfer portal to add an experienced WR to add to the current corps that mostly received their first significant playing time in 2021. Coleman would primarily be brought in to add depth.

Next. Two key Miami recruits will commit live on Early NSD. dark

Current Miami TE coach Stephen Field is listed by 247 Sports as leading the Hurricanes recruitment for Coleman. Former Miami and current Florida State WR coach Ron Dugans is leading the Coleman recruitment for the Seminoles. Landing Coleman would be a huge addition for Cristobal in less than a week on the job.
