Four 2022 Miami football signees ACC top 20
The Miami football program has four of the top 20 2022 signees in the ACC. Miami accomplished the top signees with only nine players in their 2022 Class currently. Defensive end Nyjalik Kelly, tight end Jaleel Skinner, cornerback Khamauri Rogers and linebacker Wesley Bissainthe are in the top 20 ACC signees in the Class of 2022.
Kelly and Skinner were impressive late signees by Mario Cristobal and the Miami football staff. Rogers was the only long-term commit to Miami among the Hurricanes in the top 20 in the ACC. Bissainthe committed to Miami on December 4, just two days before former head coach Manny Diaz was fired.
Cristobal was announced as the head coach later on December 5 and introduced the next day. The Miami football program is not done adding to its 2022 Class. Cristobal said in his Early National Signing Day Press Conference to expect Miami to sign more high school prospects and add players through the transfer portal.
Kelly is the 10th highest-rated 2022 signee in the ACC. Signing the 84th ranked player overall, 13th ranked defensive lineman and 12th ranked player in Florida in the Class of 2022 was big for Cristobal and Miami. Kelly is from Fort Lauderdale Dillard and signing the local players is critical for establishing a foundation for Miami.
Skinner is the 10th highest-rated signee in the ACC in the Class of 2022. Miami shocked college football on Friday when they were able to flip Skinner from Alabama. Skinner is the 98th ranked player, third-ranked TE and 15th in Florida out of IMG Academy in the Class of 2022. The legend of TE U should continue to thrive.
Rogers could become a shutdown CB for Miami. Signing Rogers, four-star CB Chris Graves and three-star Jaden Harris provides Miami depth in the immediate future and a good foundation for the future at the position. Rogers is the 103rd ranked player, 14th ranked CB and 11th in the ACC for 2022.
Bissainthe is a critical signee from South Florida. If Miami wants to re-establish the “State of Miami” they need to sign as many of the elite players from South Florida as possible. Bissainthe fulfills a position of need and could challenge to be a starter in 2022. The Miami Central star is 169th nationally, the 16th LB and 20th in the ACC.
This list will evolve. Miami is recruiting DEs Cyrus Moss and Shemar Stewart and wide receiver Kevin Coleman among other highly ranked prospects who would bump some of the top 25 in the ACC off the list and others to move down. Cristobal has established his presence as an elite recruiter for Miami in less than two weeks.
