The signing of four-star cornerback Khamauri Rogers provides the Miami football program with a potential shutdown pass defender. Rogers is the 103rd ranked player, 14th ranked CB the third-ranked player in Mississippi and top-rated for Miami in the Class of 2022. Miami adds depth for next season signing Rogers.

All of the Miami CBs on the 2021 roster have eligibility remaining. Third-year sophomore Tyrique Stevenson is still deciding if he will enter the 2022 NFL Draft or return to Miami for his fourth season of college football. Only Stevenson is rated higher than Rogers among the current Miami CBs.

Cornerback is the strongest and deepest position in the small 2022 Miami signing class. Miami also signed four-star CB Chris Graves and three-star Jaden Harris. Al Blades Jr. who missed most of the 2021 season with illness and injury and Stevenson are the only current Miami CBs graded higher than Graves. Miami needed to add CBs.

The Miami CB room could be in transition during the 2022 offseason. Although everyone has eligibility remaining, some could elect to transfer. Blades is from the first family of Miami football but could choose to transfer to get a new start after two tough seasons. Former starter Te’Cory Couch is another Miami CB to watch.

At 6’0, 165 pounds, Rogers will have to fill out to become a starting CB for Miami. Andrew Ivins of 247 sports projects Rogers as a multi-year starter after having a physical transformation. Ivins likes the ability Rogers has to change directions and make plays at the catch point. Rogers has to develop to become an NFL CB.

Miami signed Rogers primarily over Mississippi. The Hurricanes are stacking quality on defense in their 2022 Class. Linebacker Wesley Bissainthe is the second-best 2022 signee and Graves is third. It would not be surprising for Miami to add more CB depth and experience through the transfer portal.
