Three-star Miami football legacy defensive lineman Ahmad Moten has named the Hurricanes as one of five finalists. Iowa State, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Tennessee are the other programs that Moten is considering in addition to Miami. Moten is the brother of Miami football alum Anthony Moten.

Moten who attends Cardinals Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale is the 568th ranked player, 81st defensive lineman and 78th in Florida in the Class of 2022. In the last two seasons, Moten has 56 tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble according to Max Preps. Moten is slightly trending to Oklahoma.

Parker Thune the Insider for the 247 Sports Oklahoma website, crystal balls Moten, to the Sooners. Rivals.Com does not have a future cast for Moten. Moten has official visits scheduled to Oklahoma and Tennessee next month. Earlier this month, Moten took his official visit to Iowa State.

Moten took an unofficial visit to Miami in November. With Mario Cristobal now the head coach, Moten seems likely to take at least an unofficial visit to Coral Gables before National Signing Day in February. Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U reported recently that Oregon was standing out to Moten before Cristobal returned to Miami.

Cristobal has instantly made an impact in recruiting for Miami. The Hurricanes signed four-star defensive end Nyjalik Kelly during Early National Signing Day last week largely because of Cristobal. Many thought Kelly would sign with the Ducks when Cristobal led the Oregon football program.

Miami has six weeks to work on Moten. The Hurricanes do not have a defensive tackle committed for 2022. Fifth-year senior Jon Ford is on his way to the NFL and fourth-year junior Nesta Silvera will likely follow him. Moten would greatly help the Miami depth at DT entering the 2022 season.

Miami signed two DTs in 2021. Five-star Leonard Taylor was the Miami co-leader with 8.5 tackles for loss this season. Haye was not credited with getting on the stat sheet in 2021. Other Miami DTs entering 2022 are fourth-year sophomore Jared Harrison-Hunte, fifth-year junior Jordan Miller and third-year sophomore Elijah Roberts
