The breakout 2022 season from Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke earned him five ACC Rookie of the Week awards, the ACC Rookie and Offensive Rookie of the Year awards. The exceptional season from Van Dyke has resulted in him being named the 22nd best QB in College Football in 2021 by 247 Sports.

Tyler Van Dyke completed 62.3 percent of his passes this season for 2,931 yards, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions. In the last six games of the season, Van Dyke threw for over 300 yards and at least three TDs in each game. Van Dyke finished four TDs behind Steve Walsh’s all-time Miami record of 29 in a season.

Miami won five of its last six games as Van Dyke improved throughout the season. Having Van Dyke thrive after losing starting QB D’Eriq King was critical for Miami finishing the season strong. Van Dyke will lead the Miami offense that should return seven starters in 2022. Five returning starters will be at skill positions.

Miami will lose offensive linemen Navaughn Donaldson and Jarrid Williams and wide receivers Mike Harley and Charleston Rambo. Van Dyke has built a good rapport with the returning players on offense. Van Dyke and tight end Will Mallory who is entering his fifth year will be two of the leaders for Miami on offense.

Most of the ACC’s top QBs will leave following the 2021 season. Van Dyke will be in the running for preseason All-ACC in 2021. Having nearly a third of the top quarterbacks on the 247 Sports list in the ACC is impressive. That should inspire Van Dyke to continue to improve and have an even more productive 2022.
