New Miami football strength coach Aaron Feld has worked in elite programs
New Miami football strength and conditioning coach Aaron Feld has worked for some of the best college football programs during a nine-year career. Feld began his career as the assistant strength coach for football and head strength coach for women’s basketball at Alabama-Birmingham in 2012-2013.
After one school year at UAB, Feld received his first job in a Power Five program as a volunteer strength coach at Alabama. That allowed Feld the opportunity to work under Nick Saban. Feld and new Miami head coach Mario Cristobal worked together at Alabama. Cristobal was the Crimson Tide’s offensive line coach.
Feld moved on to North Alabama in 2014-2015 as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Lions athletic program. North Alabama was 9-2 in football with Feld as their strength and conditioning coordinator. The Lions earned NCAA Division II playoff berths in the one season with Feld leading the strength program.
Prior to becoming a strength coach, Feld was a long snapper at Mississippi State from 2006 through 2009. Feld started 36 out of a possible 37 games in his final three seasons with the Bulldogs. Georgia hired Feld in 2015 as the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning for Football under Kirby Smart.
Feld left Georgia for Oregon in 2018 when Cristobal was hired as the head coach to replace Willie Taggart. The opportunity at Miami and the chance to continue working with Cristobal is the reason Feld left Oregon for Miami. Feld told the Miami Herald he believes the Hurricanes can return to being an elite college football program.
Feld is known for his handlebar mustache and should immediately become a favorite of the Miami football fan base. In a press release issued Monday, Cristobal mentioned Feld is a difference-maker to help change the team culture, instill discipline and help build the DNA for a championship football team.
In their four seasons together at Oregon, Cristobal and Feld helped lead the Ducks to three Pac 12 North Championships and two Pac 12 Championships. Miami won its only ACC Coastal Division title in 2017. The expectations for the Miami football program have increased significantly with the hiring of Cristobal as head coach.
