Five-star LB Harold Perkins last visit will be Miami football January 28
The Miami football program will receive the last visit from five-star linebacker Harold Perkins the weekend of January 28. Perkins will visit Coral Gables the same weekend as five-star defensive lineman Shemar Stewart. Stewart most recently visited Miami this weekend but has yet to take an official visit with the Hurricanes.
Perkins will be a tough sell for Miami. The Cy Park High School star from Cypress, Texas committed to Texas A&M on January 2. Three crystal balls from 247 Sports and Rivals.Com all project Perkins to honor his commitment and sign with the Aggies. Perkins would be a huge addition to the 2022 Miami class.
Perkins is the fifth-ranked player, top LB and number one in Texas in the Class of 2022. Miami needs to significantly upgrade its LB corps. If Miami somehow signs Perkins he would have an excellent chance to play immediately. Miami signed four-star LB Wesley Bissainthe last month in the Class of 2022.
Perkins is impressed with the history of LBs at Miami. Miami has struggled with inconsistency from its LBs since losing four-year starters Michael Pinckney and Shaq Quarterman following the 2019 season. Quarterman is ninth in Miami history with 356 tackles. Pinckney had 267 tackles in his Miami career.
"“Miami is linebacker U (University)…I’m excited to get out there and see with they have to offer, My guy Shemar (Stewart) will be visiting that weekend too and that’s my dog right there. I’m just thankful to be in this situation…I’m going to take that last visit with an open mind and then we’ll see what happens on the 2nd.”"
If Perkins chooses to sign with Miami he can team with Bissainthe to make the same type of impact Zach McCloud, Pinckney and Quarterman did as true freshmen in 2016. Head coach Mario Cristobal has instantly made an impact upgrading the Miami football roster. Miami has added three 100 players since Cristobal was hired.
Defensive ends Nyjalik Kelly and Cyrus Moss and tight end Jaleel Skinner have all joined the Miami football program since Cristobal left Oregon for Miami last month. Miami could potentially have a top 20 class if it signs Perkins or Stewart. If Miami can sign both the Hurricanes would have a chance for a top 15 Class.
