Miami football prospect Dave Iuli loved visit with coaching staff and fans
Four-star offensive lineman Dave Iuli raved about his visit with the Miami football program over the weekend. In a pair of tweets on Monday, Iuli praised the Hurricanes coaching staff and fans. A former Oregon commit under Mario Cristobal, Iuli seems to be leaning to Miami. Cristobal continues to make an impact in recruiting.
A commitment from Iuli would be important for the 2022 Miami signing class that has yet to add an offensive lineman. The 2022 Miami signing class currently ranks 36th nationally. A commitment from Iuli would move Miami up to the 26th ranked Class for 2022. Cristobal is making the lines of scrimmage a priority.
Miami added top 100 edge rushers Nyjalik Kelly and Cyrus Moss plus USC transfer defensive lineman Jacob Lichtenstein since he was hired in December. Iuli would be a foundational player on the Miami offensive line. The Hurricanes do not have a lot of depth on either line. For former Miami OL Cristobal, that’s critical.
Iuli was familiar with Cristobal and new Miami OL coach Alex Mirabal from their time at Oregon. The new Miami coaching staff clearly has the trust of Iuli. Getting him to sign with the Miami football program will be tough. Miami is the only visit Iuli has taken since de-committing from Oregon on December 25.

Coral Gables would be a long way for the Puyallup, Washington resident Iuli to matriculate. Brandon Huffman of 247 Sports projects Iuli as a multi-year Power Five starter and eventual day three pick in the NFL Draft. The Miami offensive line is likely to be in transition after the 2022 season.
Left tackle Zion Nelson will almost definitely leave for the 2023 NFL Draft. D.J. Scaife is entering his last season of eligibility in 2022. Center Jakai Clark is another player who could consider entering the 2023 NFL Draft. Adding Iuli will help the Miami OL depth and he could challenge to start as a true freshman.
Miami should continue to improve its depth and talent on the OL with Cristobal and Mirabal leading the recruiting and development. Lack of development has too frequently been an issue with the Miami OL with recent staff. Several four-star OL signees have not reached their potential. The Miami OL should improve.
