Miami football prospect Jack Pyburn has narrowed his college football programs down to Auburn and Miami and will announce his choice on January 27. Pyburn tweeted the information via Twitter on Wednesday morning. This past weekend Pyburn took his official visit with Auburn and an unofficial visit with Miami.

Pyburn is a rising prospect since he de-committed from Minnesota last month. The Jacksonville Bolles edge rusher is the 1,173rd ranked player, 63rd at his position and 152nd in Florida in the Class of 2022. Auburn is the favorite to receive a commitment from Pyburn according to On3.Com.

Rivals.Com and 247 Sports do not project if Pyburn will commit to Auburn or Miami. The Miami football program currently has edge rusher Cyrus Moss and defensive lineman Nyjalik Kelly as part of their 2022 Class. The Hurricanes also added former USC DL Jacob Lichtenstein as a transfer to bolster their DL.

Pyburn had 109 tackles, 32 tackles for loss and 14 sacks as a senior for the Bolles School in Jacksonville in 2021. Miami needs to add edge-rushing depth to its roster. Miami lost starting 2021 defensive ends Deandre Johnson and Zach McCloud after the season. Jahfari Harvey and Chantz Williams project as the 2022 starters.

Pyburn also received an endorsement from legendary Miami linebacker Dan Morgan on Tuesday. Pyburn posted a picture of himself wearing the number 44 Morgan wore for Miami. With the production he had in high school, Pyburn projects as a player who will exceed his recruiting ranking.

Auburn has only one DL committed to their Class of 2022. The Tigers did add junior college transfer Jeffrey M’Ba and former Oregon defensive tackle Jayson Jones. Miami was pursuing M’Ba and Jones. Pyburn is likely more of a long term project. Pyburn will reportedly reveal his decision via Instagram.

Auburn could have an edge pursuing Pyburn without an edge rusher in its 2022 Class. With Miami, Pyburn would have to compete with Kelly and Moss. Former Miami edge rushers Jaelan Phillips and Greg Rousseau were first round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft after being mentored by the previous Miami coaching staff.
