Key Miami football prospects National Signing Day announcment times
Several key Miami football prospects will announce their college destinations on National Signing Day on Wednesday. The 2022 Miami Signing Class would get a big boost from some of these prospects. Miami currently holds the 38th ranked 2022 Class. Adding any of the big-name prospects would give Miami a big boost.
The commitment announcements will occur throughout the day. Most of the major prospects the Miami football program is pursuing are trending elsewhere. The major prospect to watch is five-star defensive lineman Shemar Stewart. Stewart holds the projections from the major recruiting services but Miami has gained ground.
Stewart will commit on Wednesday at 1:30 PM ET from Monsignor Pace. Other blue-chip prospects who are considering Miami and announcing on Wednesday are four-stars, DL Christen Miller, offensive lineman Dave Iuli and running back TreVonte’ Citizen. Their signing ceremonies will occur throughout the day on Wednesday.
Miller will announce his commitment at 9 AM ET, Citizen 10:30 AM and Iuli 6:30 PM. Other Miami prospects to watch closely on Wednesday include OL Anez Cooper and Matthew McCoy and defensive tackle Ahmad Moten and defensive end R Mason Thomas from Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale.
Moten and Thomas will announce their college destinations at 1:30 PM ET. Cooper and McCoy are the only prospects trending to Miami. Iuli has had a flurry of 247 Sports crystal balls trend towards Oregon on Tuesday. Without an OL signed in the Class of 2022 Cooper and McCoy would be key additions to add depth.
Miami has added former Oregon OL Logan Sagapolu as a transfer. Without knowing what the teams ahead of them would do, Miami would move up to 27th with Cooper and McCoy. Miami has added 10 signees and five transfers during the 2022 offseason.
When he was hired in December, head coach Mario Cristobal said Miami would add 16 to 20 new players. If Miami signed Cooper and McCoy, the Hurricanes would be completely in that range. Miami has added transfers in positions of need.
The Miami football program does not have an offensive lineman or RB in the Class of 2022. Miami added RB Henry Parrish from Mississippi and Sagapolu as two of their five transfers to fill in those gaps. Defensive linemen Jacob Lichtenstein and Antonio Moultrie and wide Frank Ladson are other transfers to Miami.
