Miami Football National Signing Day 2022: NLI tracker and live blog
New head coach Mario Cristobal continues to build momentum for the 2022 signing class for the Miami football program. Miami has risen to 38th in the 2022 recruiting rankings entering National Signing Day on Wednesday. The Hurricanes could get as high as the 20th ranked class depending on who other programs sign.
Miami entered Early National Signing Day in December with the 57th ranked class. The Hurricanes ascension under Cristobal is remarkable. Miami signed 10 players during the early signing period. That included four-star edge rusher Cyrus Moss who didn’t make his commitment known to early January at the All-American Bowl.
Miami entered NSD with has one quarterback, one tight end, one wide receiver, two defensive linemen, one linebacker, three cornerbacks and a safety in the Class of 2022. The Hurricanes have added a running back, wide receiver, offensive lineman and two DL as transfers. Miami is close to the target number of 16-20 new players.
Cristobal mentioned the number during his introductory press conference in December. In a short time, Cristobal and his staff have done an exceptional job upgrading the talent on the Miami football roster. Eight of the players added have occurred since Cristobal was hired. That number will rise on Wednesday.

Three-star offensive lineman Anez Cooper is the first player to sign his National Letter of Intent with the Miami Football program on 2022 National Signing Day. Cooper gives Miami exceptional size at 6’6, 352 pounds and is the 1,503rd ranked player and 150th OT in the Class of 2022.
The second signing of the day for Miami is four-star running back Trevonte Citizen. Citizen was trending to Florida entering signing day. Five 247 Sports crystal balls trended for Citizen to the Gators on Tuesday. Citizen who is from Lake Charles, Louisiana is the 107th ranked player, ninth RB and 10th in Louisiana in 2022.
Three-star defensive Ahmad Moten is the latest 2022 signee for the Miami football program. Miami beat out Oklahoma and Tennessee for Moten. Moten is the brother of former Miami defensive lineman Anthony Moten. Miami adds needed depth at DT with the addition of Moten.
As expected the Miami football program added three-star offensive tackle, Matthew McCoy. McCoy is the 1,249th player, 121st OT and 165th ranked player in Florida in the Class of 2022 and rising. Miami won their second battle of the day against Florida to earn a National Letter of Intent from a signee.
More signees will likely announce to Miami throughout the day. Citizen was a surprise. Offensive lineman Dave Iulli is expected to sign with Oregon after previously trending to Miami. The Hurricanes move up to the 14th ranked 2022 Class. Miami entered National Signing Day ranked 38th and at one point fell to 40th.
