Where does Miami football rank with Florida blue chip signees?
Five of the 2022 signees by the Miami football program are blue-chip prospects who rank in the top 34 in Florida. There are 48 blue chip (four or five star) prospects from Florida in the Class of 2022. Georgia with seven Florida blue chips signees is first. Miami is tied with Alabama and Florida State for second with five.
The Miami list of blue-chip signees is led by defensive end Nyjalik Kelly who is the 13th ranked signee out of Florida in 2022 and tight end Jaleel Skinner who is 15th, cornerback Chris Graves is ranked 20th, linebacker Wesley Bissainthe 23rd and safety Markeith Williams who ranks 34th.
Kelly, Skinner, Graves and Bissainthe all have excellent chances to play as freshmen. Bissainthe might have the best chance. Head coach Mario Cristobal said that Miami has to address LB more. That is a good indication that Bissainthe has a good chance to compete for playing time as a true freshman this fall.
Kelly with fellow 2022 signee Cyrus Moss have a chance to be in the rotation at DE. There is also the potential that Kelly can play inside. Most of the positions for the Hurricanes will be competitive. Skinner joins a deep Miami TE corps. Starter Will Mallory and 2021 signee Elijah Arroyo return for Miami.
With Mallory in his final season, the future for Miami is bright at TE led by Arroyo and Skinner. Skinner played his final high school season at IMG Academy in Bradenton. Greer, South Carolina is Skinner’s hometown. Graves is listed as an athlete in the 247 Sports composite rankings. At Miami, Graves projects as a CB.
Graves has the length most college football coaches want at 6-1, 175 pounds. Miami also signed CBs Jaden Harris, Graves and Khamauri Rogers during the Early Signing Period in November. Williams is the only safety Miami signed in 2022. The Hurricanes are deep at safety but needed to add depth at CB.
Cristobal and his staff did an excellent job upgrading the talent on the Miami roster in less than two months together. Kelly, Moss and Skinner are top 100 prospects who would not have signed with Miami without Cristobal being hired. Cristobal and the Miami football program have built momentum for the 2023 recruiting class.
