Mario Cristobal made another high-profile hire for the Miami football team on Monday night. As reported by Pete Thamel of ESPN, Miami is hiring Georgia defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae for the same position with the Hurricanes. Addae was the second-highest-rated recruiter in the Class of 2022.

Miami hiring Addae comes after Georgia hired away wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon from the Hurricanes. Cristobal has scored a coup for the second straight day. Miami hired away Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis on Sunday. Cristobal is building an elite recruiting staff.

Thamel reported that Addae will sign a two-year contract with Miami. Addae is an elite hire for Cristobal and the Miami football program after losing DBs coach Travaris Robinson to Alabama. Miami hires Addae after he spent just one season at Georgia. Addae coached the previous two seasons at his alma mater, West Virginia.

Addae began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at West Virginia two years after he ended his playing career. Other coaching stops for Addae include Michigan, Cincinnati and Arizona. Addae is originally from Valrico, Florida, a suburb of Tampa. The hiring continues the emphasis Cristobal is placing on elite recruiters.

Addae helped coach an exceptional Georgia defense in 2021. Georgia was 12th nationally in 2021 allowing 189.1 passing yards per game. The Bulldogs were second nationally allowing 5.6 yards per game. Georgia tied for eighth nationally with 16 interceptions. Addae is credited with four of the five five-star 2022 Georgia signees.

With Addae hired as the DB coach and Kevin Steele as defensive coordinator last week, Miami has the linebackers coach as the primary hire remaining on the defensive staff. The Hurricanes could potentially have one other opening on the defensive staff depending on how Cristobal wants to construct his staff.

In 2021, Miami had a defensive line coach, inside and outside LBs coaches. Gattis seems likely to coach WRs at Miami. That would leave a quarterback coach remaining on offense. Stephen Field seems likely to return as the tight ends coach for Miami. Cristobal is close to living up to his promise of completing the staff this week.
