The OL will be the biggest priority in recruiting for Cristobal and Mirabal to build the foundation for Miami in the future. Jalen Rivers is the highest rated Miami OL at 0.9425. Rivers signed with Miami in 2020 and missed most of last season with a knee injury. Rivers will be projected to start for Miami in 2022.

Miami signed OL Anez Cooper and Matthew McCoy in the Class of 2022 and added Oregon transfer Logan Sagapolu.

Cooper, McCoy and Sagapolu are all sub .900 rated players. D.J. Scaife, Issiah Walker and Cleveland Reed are the other OL besides Rivers who received a rating better than .900.

Scaife was rated at 0.9378 when he signed with Miami in 2018, Walker was 0.9308 in the Class of 0.9308 and Reed 0.9075.

Scaife played in all 13 games and started seven as a true freshman in 2018. The 2022 season will be the fourth for Scaife as a full-time starter with the extra season granted to due covid.

Reed and Walker have yet to make an impact for the Miami football program. Center Jakai Clark and left tackle Zion Nelson have made an impact for Miami since their true freshmen years in 2019. Nelson has started nearly every game of his Miami career. Clark has been a primary starter since the second game in 2019.

Miami OL has shown the importance of development as much as the talent rating players receive as signees. Cristobal and his staff should upgrade the development Miami has lacked in recent years, especially on the OL. Being ranked 13th in roster talent, Miami should improve their 7-5 2021 record.
