Five-star 2023 quarterback Dante Moore told On3.Com that the Miami football program is on his radar. Moore visited Miami in January while in town for a seven-on-seven tournament. The On3 consensus ratings rank Moore as the 17th best player, fourth-best QB and top player in Michigan out of Detroit for 2023.

Moore is one of 11 QBs Miami has offered in the Class of 2023 according to 247 Sports. Miami needs to sign a QB in the Class of 2023 with the potential of losing incumbent starter Tyler Van Dyke following the 2022 season. Miami also has 2021 signee Jake Garcia, 2022 signee Jacurri Brown and Peyton Matocha at QB.

Walk-on Ryan Rizk completed one pass in two attempts for nine yards in 2021. The Miami football program has significantly upgraded their talent at QB signing Van Dyke, Garcia and Brown in the last three classes. Moore would be the highest-rated QB to sign with Miami since Kyle Wright in the Class of 2003.

Wright received a grade of .9984 from 247 Sports, Moore is .9961. Recently hired Miami offensive coordinator Josh Gattis had a relationship with Moore when he held the same position at Michigan. Wright played at Miami from 2004 through 2007. Moore spoke to On3 about his Miami recruitment.

"“I got to visit Miami and meeting Mario Cristobal for the first time was great. I was able to get the tour and do a photoshoot, but I got to spend a lot of time with coach Cristobal. He recruited me hard at Oregon, so it was great to finally meet him. He is a winner and he is all about turning the Miami program around. The visit definitely put Miami on my radar. Coach Josh Gattis going there from Miami was big too. We have a great relationship and he was texting me as soon as he got there.”"

The additions of Gattis and QB coach Frank Ponce to the Miami staff should help the Hurricanes recruit and develop signal-callers in the future. Gattis and Ponce both have extensive experience developing QBs in their careers. As the recruitment for Moore continues to develop Miami is in a good position to get an official visit.

Next. Miami OC Josh Gattis has coached elite wide receivers. dark

Recruits are allowed five official visits. Moore is currently listed by On3 as being favored to sign with Michigan at 41.9 percent, Notre Dame at 25.9 percent, Michigan State 16.4, Penn State five percent and Florida State, Florida Atlantic, Ohio State and Oregon at 1.8 percent. With Gattis that should change for Miami.
