The Miami basketball programs will eagerly await their NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday. NCAA Tournament announcements will be announced at 6 PM ET on CBS for the men and 8 PM ET on ESPN for the women on Sunday. The Miami men’s and women’s basketball teams both appear safely in the NCAA Tournament fields.

Joe Lunardi of ESPN and Jerry Palm of CBS Sports project the Miami men as a 10 seed in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Lunardi projects Miami against seventh-seeded Ohio State in the East Regional playing in the Greenville, South Carolina Subregional. Auburn or St. Peter’s would await the winner per Lunardi bracketology.

Palm also has Miami as the 10 seed in the East. The CBS bracketologist has the Hurricanes playing Mountain West regular-season champion Boise State in Indianapolis. Purdue or Colgate would await the winner of Boise State and Miami. Purdue is playing in the Big 10 Tournament championship in Indianapolis on Sunday.

Charlie Creme of ESPN has the Miami women projected to play in the Greensboro Regional with the first two rounds in Columbia, South Carolina. Creme has the ninth-seeded Miami projected to play eighth-seed Florida Gulf Coast in the first round. The winner would play either South Carolina or Mt. St. Mary’s or Southeast Louisiana.

South Carolina will be the regional host and is the expected top overall seed in the 2022 NCAA Women’s tournament.  The Miami basketball women should be confident entering the NCAA Tournament after defeating Louisville and Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament to reach the championship game for the first time.

The Miami men had their best season in four years. Miami reached its first ACC Tournament semifinal since 2016. The Hurricanes advanced to the NCAA Tournament regional semifinals that season. Miami played Duke well twice this season. That included a win at Cameron Indoor Stadium in January.

A Miami basketball team has not won an NCAA Tournament game since 2017. That was the women. That win was ironically against Florida Gulf Coast when the Hurricanes hosted a subregional at the Watsco Center. Miami was upset by 12th seed Quinnipiac in the second round.

Sunday noon NCAA Tournament updates

Lunardi now has Miami falling to an 11 seed in Milwaukee against sixth-seeded Texas who he also moved down on his bracket. The Hurricanes and Longhorns would be in the Midwest Regional that will be played at the United Center in Chicago. Lunardi has the Miami-Texas winner playing against 14th seed Akron or third seed Wisconsin.

Palm had a slight alteration to his bracket for Miami is still a 10 seed playing in Greensboro. Miami is now in the Midwest Region against seventh-seeded Seton Hall. The winner between Auburn and now Longwood instead of St. Peter’s would await the victor between the former Big East rivals Hurricanes and Pirates.

Nothing has changed with the bracket Creme posted on Sunday. The Miami women’s basketball team will enter the NCAA Tournament as one of the hottest teams. After beginning the season 12-10, Miami has won eight of its last 10 games to likely earn an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time since 2018.

The Miami men have not won an NCAA Tournament game since 2016. Miami lost in the first round in 2017 to Michigan State as an eighth seed. The Hurricanes lost in 2018 as a six seed to 11th seeded Loyola-Chicago. Loyola won three more games to advance to the Final Four. Miami last won an NCAA Tournament game in 2016.
