The Miami baseball team averaged 11.5 runs per game to finish last week with a 3-1 record. Miami improved to 11-4 this season. The Hurricanes defeated FIU 12-5 last Tuesday before winning the final two games of a three-game series against Boston College to begin ACC play.

The star in the victory over FIU was Jacob Burke who had two hits in three at-bats with two runs scored and four runs batted in. Alex McFarlane started and pitched four innings allowing three hits, two runs, both earned with two walks and three strikeouts. Five pitchers relieved McFarlane with Alejandro Torres getting the win.

After three outstanding starts to begin the season, Carson Palmquist lasted 3.2 innings, allowing nine hits, 10 runs, nine earned, with four walks and two strikeouts. Trailing 12-6 entering the ninth inning Miami nearly pulled off a great comeback.

Miami scored five runs in the ninth inning before losing 12-11. Dorian Gonzalez, Maxwell Romero and Edgardo Villegas all had three hits in the series opener against Boston College. Romero and Villegas led Miami in the opener with three RBIs. As has often been the case this year, Miami pitched better in the final two games.

Ligon pitched six innings, allowing four hits, one unearned run, with one walk and six strikeouts. Shortstop Dominick Pitelli had two hits in four at-bats with two runs scored and four RBIs.

Pitelli was the hitting star on Saturday night from the nine spot in the batting order. Miami defeated Boston College 11 to three to earn their first ACC victory of the season. The Miami bats woke up late in their 12-2 victory over Boston College on Sunday. Miami scored four in the sixth and seventh and one in the eighth inning.

Burke had two hits in four at-bats with two runs scored. Pitelli had two hits in three at-bats with two runs scored and three RBIs out of the ninth spot for the second straight game. McFarlane started and pitched five innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs with two walks and six strikeouts.
