Rivers was listed as limited when Miami announced the players who would be out this spring. The Miami football program lost Rivers with a season-ending knee injury in the second game of 2021 against Appalachian State. Rivers played in seven games as a freshman in 2020 before becoming a starter in 2021 prior to the injury.

Rivers is the projected starting LG for Miami in 2022. Entering the 2022 season, Rivers is the highest-rated OL on the Miami roster. Rivers’ health will be important for the success of the Miami OL in 2022. Campell is a swing OL for Miami who can play guard or tackle. Getting Campbell back helps the depth on the Miami OL.

Ousman Traore was the first-team LG for Miami throughout the first week of spring practice. Justice Oluwaseun spent the first week of spring practice at right guard for Miami. Delone Scaife who has played better at guard in his Miami career played RT throughout the first week of spring practice.

The health of Rivers will impact what positions the OL for Miami will play. Head coach Mario Cristobal and OL coach Alex Mirabal will have the spring to evaluate the Miami OL before the Hurricanes head into the remainder of the offseason. Miami is expected to be more physical with Cristobal and Mirabal mentoring the OL.
