Several prospects for the Miami football program were among the top performers at the Rivals Camp Series held at St. Thomas Aquinas on Sunday. In the analysis of their own camp, Rivals.Com listed Miami as one of five teams that should be pleased with what recruits said and how they performed.

Miami was listed first followed by Florida, Louisville, Tennessee and Florida State. Head coach Mario Cristobal will make recruiting well in Florida a priority for the Miami football program. All of the players Rivals lists are from Florida. The list of Miami prospects who performed well came from several positions.

Miami prospects who performed well at the camp are an athlete, two defensive ends, linebacker, offensive tackle and safety. Only one of the players was from South Florida. Dylan Stephenson from Killian was named the defensive line MVP at the Miami Rivals Camp. Camps in South Florida should benefit Miami.

With Mario Cristobal as head coach, the Miami football program should perenially sign top 10 classes. Miami signed the 15th ranked Class in 2022. Cristobal quickly turned around a class that was ranked in the 70s when he was hired in December. Clint Cosgrove of Rivals analyzed how the Miami prospects performed.

"1. MIAMI “There were a ton of Miami targets at the camp and with so many of them residing in the area there was little surprise that Miami was a main topic of conversation at the camp. A few players that Miami has a chance of landing left the camp with MVP honors on the day.Offensive line MVP  Payton Kirkland, defensive line MVP Dylan Stephenson and defensive back MVP Brayshon Williams all hold the Hurricanes in high regard. Aside from Hurricanes targets winning half of the positional MVP honors, the Canes are also in great position with four-star ATH Fred Gaskin, who was incredible at defensive back.Four-stars Derrick LeBlanc and Malik Bryant, along with a host of underclassmen that received invites to the Rivals Underclassmen Challenge, are players that Miami has a serious shot of landing. The Hurricanes will hit a home run if they are able to land even a handful of these uncommitted players."

Miami currently has three commits to their 2023 Class. Offensive lineman Antonio Tripp and wide receivers Andy Jean and Lamar Seymore are all three-star prospects committed to Miami in the Class of 2023. Cristobal has stated the importance of building a team that starts in the trenches.

Kirkland is trending to Florida and Ohio State according to Rivals. The four-star OL would be a foundational commit for 2023. LeBlanc and Stephenson would add a pair of pass rushers after Miami signed top 15 DEs Nyjalik Kelly and Cyrus Moss in the Class of 2022. Rivals currently ranks the 2023 Miami Class 26th nationally.
