The Miami basketball team won three and lost four versus NCAA Tournament teams in 2021-22. Miami lost to Alabama in their only non-conference game versus an NCAA Tournament team in 2021-22. Miami split games with Duke and Virginia Tech, beat North Carolina and lost to Notre Dame among ACC NCAA Tournament teams.

The Miami basketball team also went 3-3 against the NIT field. The Hurricanes’ biggest non-conference win this season was arguably against North Texas. North Texas finished the 2021-22 season 25-6 overall and 16-2 in Conference USA. The Mean Green lost in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Tournament.

Miami had their biggest win of this season at Duke. The Hurricanes played consistently in both games against the Blue Devils. Duke defeated Miami in the ACC Tournament semifinals last Friday. Miami scored 76 points in each game against the Blue Devils this season. Duke scored 74 in their loss and 80 in their win against Miami.

Miami shot 47.0 percent in the loss to Duke, 45.4 in the win. The Hurricanes made just four of its 16 three-point shots in their victory in Durham but shot eight for 21 in the loss to the Blue Devils at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn last week. The biggest differences in the win and loss over Duke were free throw shooting and turnovers.

Miami made eight of 11 free throws in the win at Duke, just six of 12 in the loss to the Blue Devils in the ACC Tournament. The Hurricanes forced 17 turnovers with 15 steals in the win over the Blue Devils. In the loss to Duke, Miami forced nine turnovers with six steals. Miami needs their pressure defense to succeed versus USC.
