They’ll need starting guards Drew Peterson and Boogie Ellis to lock in and be more disciplined and be more consistent with basketball protection. They certainly have it in them, as Peterson wasn’t named First-Team All-Pac 12 for nothing, and Ellis wasn’t named as an All-Pac 12 honorable mention for nothing.”

CW: Who is the go-to player for USC? Peterson has been incredibly clutch at times but seems cold at others.

“4. The go-to guy for SC is going to be Isaiah Mobley. Again, he’s not only one of the best players in the entire conference, but he also has proven to have ice in his veins in the past during the NCAA Tournament.

The one hole in Mobley’s game is his free throw shooting, but he’s been much improved with it this year and proved he can convert at an elite level last year in the tournament. He’ll be fun to watch on Friday.”

Miami basketball outlook versus USC

Miami is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018. The Miami basketball team has four games of NCAA Tournament experience on their entire roster. USC played four games in the 2021 NCAA Tournament advancing to the West Regional Final where the Trojans lost to eventual National Runner-Up Gonzaga.
