Miami football behind other programs with March 24 visit from 5-star WR Brandon Inniss
The Miami football program is behind other programs heading into a March 24 visit from five-star wide receiver Brandon Inniss. Inniss tweeted he scheduled the visit to Coral Gables on Thursday morning. Miami is behind several other programs for Inniss depending on the recruiting service.
The three major recruiting services all project Inniss to commit somewhere other than Miami. Inniss has six crystal balls that project him to commit to USC by 247Sports.Com. Four of those six crystal balls have been logged this month. The other two crystal balls for Inniss are for Oklahoma that were logged last summer.
Those crystal balls were logged before Inniss committed to the Sooners in October and de-committed in November following the departure of head coach Lincoln Riley to USC. The Miami football program is listed with Alabama, Ohio State and USC as the programs Inniss are most strongly considering per 247 Sports.
On3.Com reported on Thursday that the visit by Inniss to Miami next week will be his eighth to the Coral Gables campus. USC holds the lead with an 80.2 percent chance to sign with the Trojans according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Miami is the second favorite per On3 to sign Inniss at 9.5 percent.
On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons expects Miami to remain in the recruitment with Ohio State, despite USC taking the clear lead. The hiring of head coach Mario Cristobal and Inniss being from American Heritage will help Miami receive the hometown look. Simmons expects Ohio State to challenge USC more for Inniss.
"“Miami is always going to be in this. It is the hometown school, and Mario Cristobal is making Inniss a personal target…But the school challenging USC the most right now is Ohio State. Ryan Day and Brian Hartline are involved with Inniss and he will be in Columbus April 1-3. The Buckeyes are a serious contender as well.”"
Inniss is projected to commit to Oklahoma by 50 percent of the Rivals.Com analysts and to USC by the other half. Miami can set a foundation for its 2022 Class by gaining a commitment from Inniss. The Hurricanes are recruiting several five-star quarterbacks. A commitment from Inniss could help lure an elite signal-caller.
Inniss visited USC on Saturday and will wait until (Early National) Signing Day to make a commitment according to Greg Biggins the National Recruiting Analyst for 247Sports. Inniss will likely make several other unofficial visits to Miami. He is not expected to take an official visit to Miami. Probably because of proximity.
