Miami Hurricanes have special South Carolina Friday
The Miami Hurricanes baseball team and men’s and women’s basketball teams all won games in South Carolina on Friday. On the campus of the University of South Carolina, the Miami women’s basketball team began the day with a 78-66 victory over South Florida. That game tipped off at 11:30 AM ET.
Less than an hour later the Miami Men’s Basketball team tipped off against USC. The Miami Hurricanes survived and advanced with a 68-66 victory over the Trojans. In Clemson, the baseball team won their first ACC road game of the season 11-4 against the Tigers. The baseball team will continue its series on Saturday at 3:00 ET.
On Sunday, the first pitch is at 1:00 PM ET. The Men’s basketball team tips off about 30 minutes away in Greenville at 6:45 PM ET. The time for the women’s basketball team at South Carolina on Sunday has not been announced yet. The start time of the baseball game will make attending all three games difficult.
Columbia is about 90 minutes from Greenville and two hours from Clemson. The three games were spread out perfectly on Friday. On Sunday it will be easy to attend the baseball game and men’s basketball game. The decision on the women’s game with the possibility of attending baseball or men’s basketball will have to wait.
The three victories on Friday all about 100 miles in the Palmetto State was one of the biggest days in the history of Miami Hurricanes athletics. Duplicating those victories on Sunday would be more impressive. The 10th seeded Miami men’s basketball team plays against second-seeded Auburn.
The women’s basketball team not only is playing South Carolina on its home floor, but the Gamecocks are also the top-seeded team in the entire NCAA Tournament. Miami should have confidence after defeating Wichita region number one seed Louisville in the ACC Tournament. The Hurricanes closed that game on a 17-0 run.
Miami improved to 11-4 in baseball with the victory and dropped Clemson to 14-3. Clemson is 0-1 in the ACC. Miami improved to 3-1 in the ACC with the victory, second in the Coastal Division a game behind North Carolina. Clemson is sixth in the ACC Atlantic Division. The Tigers entered the weekend ranked 18th nationally.
This weekend is one of the most memorable in the history of the Miami Hurricanes athletic department. Those who experienced all three wins in person will have stories to pass down to their friends, family and colleagues. Miami athletic director Dan Radakovich was among Hurricanes at all three wins.
