Five-star quarterback Nicholaus Iamaleava committed to Tennessee over Alabama, Georgia, Miami and Oregon. Iamaleava is the seventh-ranked player, fourth QB and second in California for 2023 according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The Miami football team could lose QB Tyler Van Dyke to the 2023 NFL Draft.

Miami has offered scholarships to 13 QBs in the Class of 2023 according to 247 Sports. Four of those 13 prospects including Iamaleava have already committed to other programs. Miami is not listed in a strong position for any of the remaining nine prospects. Two names to watch could be Eli Holstein and Dante Moore.

Jeremy Crabtree of On3.Com reported that their national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman “believes Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, Miami, LSU and even Oregon are potential landing spots for Holstein.” Alabama at 48.1 percent and LSU with a 34.1 percent chance are the heavy favorites to receive a Holstein commitment.

New Miami offensive coordinator Josh Gattis has his former program Michigan positioned in a good place for Moore. Moore is currently on a bus tour through the Southeast with stops at Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Miami according to Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports. Oregon and LSU are also being considered by Moore.

Five-star QB prospect Jaden Rashada from Pittsburg, California is another signal-caller to watch. Miami is in the best spot for Rashada with California according to Wiltfong. BYU, Oregon, Mississippi and Stanford are the other programs competing for Rashada. Miami will look to add to a talented QB corps behind Van Dyke.

Miami signed four-star prototype dual-threat QB Jacurri Brown in the class of 2022. Jake Garcia returns after looking promising in his one game against Central Connecticut State last season before getting injured. Garcia and Van Dyke were thought to be even backing up D’Eriq King entering the 2021 season.

Next. Miami likely long shot ahead of April 8 Josh Conerly commitment. dark

With Van Dyke potentially leaving after the 2022 season, signing an elite QB will be important for the Miami football program in 2023. Garcia would be the favorite to succeed Brown being a year ahead of him in college. All of the Miami QBs have to learn Gattis’ system this spring and through training camp in August.
