Nine former Miami football players participated in the Hurricanes’ Pro Day on Wednesday. Defensive tackle Jon Ford, quarterback D’Eriq King, wide receiver Charleston Rambo and safety Bubba Bolden had a chance to improve the numbers they put up at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

Miami Hurricanes play-by-play announcer Joe Zagacki and football analyst Don Bailey Jr. hosted the coverage of Pro Day on ACC Network Extra. Pro Day began with Miami football players participating in the 225-pound bench press. Each player would attempt as many reps as they could at 225 pounds in the bench press.

The 24 reps by Ford were the highest. For the players who did not compete at the NFL Combine, the chance to participate in Pro Day was important. Running back Cam’Ron Harris and wide receiver Mike Harley were among the participants. Still recovering from a torn ACL, Harris only participated in the bench press.

Defensive back Amari Carter notably had the highest vertical for Miami at 39.5″. Carter showed his versatility moving from safety to striker last season. In modern football being able to play a hybrid DB/linebacker is an important attribute. Carter will have to improve this ability in pass coverage. Below are the numbers for each player.

  • Bolden 15 reps at 225 pounds
  • Defensive back Amari Carter 4.65, 40 ,11-foot broad jump, 14 reps of 225 on the bench. Vertical 39.5 inches
  • Navaughn Donaldson 15 reps of 225 on the bench.
  • Ford 5.45 40 and 24 reps of 225 pounds. 29″ vertical.
  • Harley 4.46 40, 16 reps at 225 pounds. 10’2″ broad jump and 35.5 vertical
  • Harris 23 reps at 225
  • King 4.65 40-yard dash
  • Defensive end Deandre Johnson 4.83, 40, 20 reps at 225. 33 inch vertical.
  • DE Zach McCloud 4.66, 40, 17 reps at 225. 33.5″
  • Rambo 4.53 40. 33.5-inch vertical.
  • Offensive lineman Jarrid Williams 5.19 40 nine reps at 225 on the bench and 31″ vertical

Bolden ran a 4.47 40 and scored 116 in the broad jump. Rambo had a 4.57 40, 33.5″ vertical and 118 broad jump at the NFL Combine.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Bolden, Carter, Ford, Harley, Harris and McCloud will all participate in the Dolphins Pro Day on April 6. Rambo has not committed to participating in the Dolphins Pro Day. That will provide another chance for the former Miami football players to impress in front of NFL scouts.
