The 2022 Miami football roster ranks 15th when taking the average ranking of each of the last five recruiting classes. Steve Lassan of Athlon Sports compiled the rankings using the composite recruiting classes from 247 Sports from 2018 through 2022. Miami has an average class ranking of 15.4 from 2018 through 2022.

The Hurricanes are second in the ACC in average recruiting class rankings over the past five seasons only behind Clemson. Clemson signed an average recruiting class than has ranked seventh over the past five seasons. The rankings do not include transfers signed or lost or roster attrition through other means.

Miami has added seven transfers for the 2022 season. Those include former Clemson wide receiver Frank Ladson and Mississippi running back, Henry Parrish. Ladson and Parrish were both four signees out of high school. Ladson was a high four-star as the 39th ranked player and seventh WR in the Class of 2019.

North Carolina and Florida State were slightly behind Miami in the five-year average national rankings. The Tar Heels have a five-year recruiting ranking of 17.6 and the Seminoles are at 18.8. Under Mario Cristobal, those numbers should rise. Oregon finished 12th with Cristobal head coach for the last four years.

Miami is tied for second with Wake Forest for the third-best overall record in the ACC over the previous five seasons at 38-24. North Carolina State is one game better at 39-23. Clemson was 61-8 from 2017 through 2021. Miami has the second-best conference record in the last five years at 27-14. Clemson is 37-4.

The top recruiting class Miami has signed in the past five years was eighth in 2018. Miami signed the 27th best class nationally in 2019 which was their worst. The 2022 class, the first under Cristobal finished average for Miami standards since 2018 ranking 15th nationally. Miami currently ranks 23rd for 2023.

The Miami football program has only four commits for 2023. It’s difficult to judge recruiting classes this early in the process. Miami is third in the ACC behind Louisville who has the eighth-ranked class nationally and Florida State with the 12th ranked class. The Cardinals and Seminoles both have more players committed for 2023.
