The Miami football program recently moved up to the 19th ranked 2023 class with commitments from twins Bobby and Robby Washington from Killian High School. Brian Dohn of 247 Sports named the Hurricanes as one of the “Teams poised to take a leap on the recruiting trail in 2023.”

In addition to the Washingtons, Miami has commitments from four-star offensive lineman Antonio Tripp and three-star wide receiver Lamar Seymore. Head coach Mario Cristobal and the Miami football staff have been gaining momentum with visits from multiple blue-chip recruits throughout March.

Miami currently has the third-best 2023 class in the ACC behind Louisville which is eighth nationally and Florida State which is 10th. Dohn stated the goal for Miami as “When looking at a program like Miami…it’s based on making a climb within the conference and upgrading the talent on the roster before looking at loftier goals.”

"“With the quality of player Mario Cristobal and his staff are getting at Miami, and with Cristobal’s proven ability as a recruiter at Oregon plus his strong ties to South Florida, the expectation is the Hurricanes will again be able to bring in a top 10 class. The last time Miami finished in the top 10 was in 2018 at eighth overall. Miami has four commitments, including four-stars Robby Washington, an athlete at Miami Killian, and four-star offensive lineman Antonio Tripp of Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh. The players on Miami’s radar…should be exciting to Hurricanes fans.Just in the top-50, Miami is heavily involved with Lakeland (Fla.) Lake Gibson cornerback Cormani McClain…American Heritage receiver Brandon Inniss, Denton (Texas) Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill, Orland(0) Jones linebacker Malik Bryan(t)…Gulliver…receiver Jalen Brown and…Stranahan receiver Hykeem Williams.”"

Brown and Williams are the most likely players to commit to Miami according to the On3 prediction machine. A quartet of Brown, Seymore, Washington and Williams would rival the three amigos, Romello Brinson, Jacolby George and Breshard Smith that Miami signed at WR in 2021.

Brinson, George and Smith all contributed as true freshmen last season. Each signee builds momentum in a recruiting class. The key could be gaining a commitment from five-star Brown who is the 29th ranked player, fourth WR and ninth in Florida for 2023. Signing a player like Brown gives notice to other prospects.

When Cristobal was hired as the Miami head coach, recruiting was the biggest attribute he was praised for. Moving from Oregon to Miami provides Cristobal with the most fertile area in the country for high school football practically in the backyard of Coral Gables. A top 10 class for the Miami football program is reachable.
