Jaden Rashada has reportedly become the top quarterback target for Mario Cristobal and the Miami football staff. Rashada was in Coral Gables this weekend and was interviewed by several recruiting websites. Rashada is developing a good rapport with the Hurricanes staff. Rashada is four or five stars depending on the site.

Rashada is the 31st ranked player, fifth-ranked QB and fifth in California in the Class of 2023 according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. There are a lot of elements that Rashada liked about Miami. The climate and culture are similar to California and that is an attraction for Rashada.

Miami has had a lot of success in its history with QBs from California. Gino Torretta won a Heisman Trophy and a National Championship, Ken Dorsey won a title and Brad Kaaya became the Miami all-time leading passer. Rashada has a list of eight schools he is strongly considering per 247, but Miami is not one of them.

With most of the Miami football staff in Coral Gables for less than two months, the Hurricanes appear to be gaining ground with Rashada. Offensive coordinator Josh Gattis is one of the best young offensive minds in college football. Mario Cristobal and QB coach Frank Ponce are also involved in Rashada’s recruitment.

"“Man I love Miami…To me, Miami is pretty close to Cali if you’re talking scenery, places you can live. I really do like Miami and how much they’re pushing me. They’re interested in me and that staff was on me at Oregon…Coach (Josh) Gattis has been on me like nobody else, as well as coach (Mario) Cristobal and coach (Frank) Ponce.  They’ve just been showing me crazy love lately.”"

John Garcia of Sports Illustrated gave the above assessment of Rashada. Rashada has been playing with the seven-on-seven team Miami Immortals. Garcia observed the connection that Rashada has with recent Miami commit, four-star wide receiver Robby Washington. Rashada quickly impacted the immortals.

"“(Rashada) connected with speedy Miami wide receiver commitment Robby Washington on a go route in stride for a score. He would throw for three more on his next six throws during the team’s semifinal run.”"

At 6’4, 185 pounds, Rashada has the ideal height at QB. There are currently no crystal balls from 247 projecting where Rashada will commit. Mississippi is projected as the leader to receive a commitment from Rasahda with a 48.3 percent chance. The Miami football program is second at 22.6 percent. Oregon is third at 20.7 percent.

The projections where Rashada will matriculate fall precipitously after the Ducks. Miami is slowly building momentum in the class of 2023. The commitment from Washington and his brother, linebacker Bobby doubled the Hurricanes’ 2023 class and moved them to the 19th ranking. Rashada could be a cornerstone for 2023.
