National website sets Miami football win total at nine
The hiring of Mario Cristobal as head coach in December has created a lot of excitement for the Miami football program. Miami faces a tough 2022 schedule with road games at Clemson and Texas A&M. Brad Crawford and Bud Elliott of 247 Sports projected the 2022 preseason win totals for every ACC team.
Not surprisingly, Clemson has the highest projected win total at 10 games. Miami, North Carolina State and Pittsburgh tied for second with nine wins. Elliott came up with the win total for each ACC team and Crawford answered whether or not the programs would exceed that total. Miami should be an ACC Coastal contender.
Pittsburgh won the ACC last season, but the Miami football team won 38-34 at Pittsburgh. Miami hosts Pittsburgh in the final game of the 2022 regular season on November 26. That game could decide who wins the ACC Coastal Division title. Miami also defeated Pittsburgh when the Panthers won the Coastal title in 2018.
With the games at Clemson and Texas A&M, it could be asking a lot for the Miami football team to get to nine wins in the first season under Cristobal. Miami will be an underdog at Clemson and Texas A&M. The Hurricanes would have to go 9-1 in their remaining 10 games to reach the win total set by Elliott.

There are a lot of questions for Miami entering the 2022 season. The Hurricanes should win at least eight games. Clemson and Texas A&M are the biggest roadblocks on the schedule. Miami will need far better production from its linebackers. Can the offensive continue at the level it played at in 2022 with a new offensive system?

After Clemson and Texas A&M, the remaining key games on the Miami schedule are at Hard Rock Stadium. In addition to hosting Pittsburgh, Florida State and North Carolina will also play at Miami this season. Other noteworthy games for Miami are at Virginia and Virginia Tech in October. Nine is the right win total to set for Miami.
