Five-star athlete Samuel M’Pemba visiting Miami football this weekend

Consensus 2023 five-star athlete Samuel M’Pemba tweeted on Thursday that he is visiting the Miami football program this weekend. Miami, Missouri and Notre Dame are nearly even in the recruitment of M’Pemba according to his On3.Com recruiting profile. Miami currently has four players committed for 2023.

The On3 consensus rankings have M’Pemba as the 32nd best player, top athlete and eighth in Florida. Miami has four players committed for 2023. None of those commits are on the defensive line where M’Pemba seems likely to play in college. M’Pemba plays defense and offense for IMG Academy in Bradenton.

M’Pemba would be the type of cornerstone player Mario Cristobal and the Miami football program are looking for in the Class of 2023. Miami is listed as the third favorite for M’Pemba behind Notre Dame and Missouri. The Fighting Irish are listed with a 31.2 percent chance to sign M’Pemba and the Tigers are at 27.9.

Miami is at 27.7 percent. M’Pemba is now at IMG Academy in Bradenton after beginning his career at renowned Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis. IMG brought M’Pemba on before the 2021-22 school year. At 6’4, 235 pounds, M’Pemba has the size and skills to play multiple positions.

The ceiling for M’Pemba in college is the greatest as an edge rusher according to his 247 Sports scouting report. Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports stated that M’Pemba has primarily been used as a “large slot wideout.” at IMG Academy. M’Pemba is expected to largely play defense during the 2022 season.

This will be the second unofficial visit to Miami in the last three weekends for M’Pemba. M’Pemba has taken unofficial visits to multiple other programs. No commitment date has been set by M’Pemba. The Miami football program is using a team approach in the recruitment of M’Pemba with no one mentioned as the lead yet.

After Miami this weekend, M’Pemba is scheduled to visit Georgia the weekend of April 16 for the Bulldogs’ Spring Game. Miami is also scheduled to hold its spring game on April 16 at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. That should also be a weekend full of visits from potential recruits.
