Miami football transfer portal national expectations

The Miami football program is continuing to pursue several transfers. Mario Cristobal has made upgrading the defensive and offensive lines a priority. Miami also needs to improve the play of its linebackers. Chris Hummer of 247 Sports analyzed the “Post-spring transfer portal needs for college football’s big-name teams.”

The Miami football program was one of 16 teams Hummer analyzed. Other programs that Hummer analyzed included Alabama and Miami 2022 opponents Clemson and Texas A&M. Miami has added eight transfers thus far during the 2022 offseason. The Hurricanes have signed four transfers each on defense and offense.

Cornerback Darryl Porter Jr. defensive end Mitchell Agude from UCLA, defensive lineman Jacob Lichtenstein from USC and Antonio Moultrie from UAB, offensive linemen Jonathan Denis and Logan Sagapolu from Oregon, running back Henry Parrish from Mississippi and wide receiver Frank Ladson have transferred to Miami.

Hummer profiles three players who are strongly considering Miami. Miami is competing with most of the other programs Hummer analyzes for several highly sought-after transfers. The Hurricanes can significantly improve their play on the line of scrimmage and LB if they sign any of these transfers.

The Hurricanes have only signed 22 players thus far during the 2022 cycle, so they have plenty of room to make moves."

Agude, Dennis and Porter did not participate in spring practice. Expect Agude and Porter to strongly compete to start in 2022. Dennis adds depth on the OL while returning home. If Johnson and Mesidor transfer to Miami they will be expected to challenge for a starting position in 2022.

Edge rusher and linebacker are a bigger need for Miami than WR. Miami has a deep and talented WR corps. The only thing Miami is lacking at WR is experience. The Miami coaching staff is confident in the WRs on the roster. Rising third-year sophomores Key’Shawn Smith and Xavier Restrepo are ready for bigger roles in 2022.

Jackson is a big DL who would add depth for Miami. At 6’2, 320 pounds, At 6’6, 300 pounds, Jackson would be one of the biggest DL on the Miami football roster. At 6’4, 320 pounds, Jordan Miller is currently the biggest DL on the Miami roster. May 1 is the deadline for transfers who want to play in 2022 without petitioning for a waiver.
