Miami football 2022 transfer class 18th with Akheem Mesidor addition
The addition of West Virginia defensive lineman Akheem Mesidor on Wednesday night moved the 2022 transfer class for the Miami football program to 18th. Mesidor is the ninth transfer Miami has added during the 2022 offseason, five on defense and four DL. Miami has also added two 2022 transfer offensive linemen.
Head coach Mario Cristobal stated the line of scrimmage would be a priority during his introductory press conference in December. Cristobal and his staff have lived up to improving the depth and talent on the line of scrimmage. In addition to the transfers, Miami has signed five linemen in the Class of 2022.
Cornerback Darryl Porter Jr. defensive end Mitchell Agude from UCLA, defensive linemen Jacob Lichtenstein from USC and Antonio Moultrie from UAB, offensive linemen Jonathan Denis and Logan Sagapolu from Oregon, running back Henry Parrish from Mississippi and wide receiver Frank Ladson have transferred to Miami.
With Mesidor announcing his transfer on Wednesday UCLA linebacker Caleb Johnson and Maryland defensive tackle, Darrell Jackson are the players to watch for the Miami football program. Transfers have a May 1 deadline to decide to transfer and be immediately eligible without a waiver.
Mississippi has the top-rated class relying on 14 transfers. Florida State has the top-ranked transfer class in the ACC with the 11th class nationally. The Seminoles have added 11 2022 transfers. If Miami adds Johnson they will move up in the transfer rankings. Miami has improved its depth and talent on the 2022 roster
Agude, Mesidor and Porter seem very likely to start. Ladson, Lichtenstein and Moultrie will be key parts of the rotation. Dennis and Sagapolu add depth and could challenge to earn playing time. Parrish is in a good position to become the first team RB after an exceptional spring. Miami should be busy in the next 10 days.
With Spring Practice finishing up this coming weekend, more players could enter the transfer portal by early next week. Those players will have only about a week to make a decision on where they will enroll next without applying for a waiver to play in 2022. Several college football rosters will change in the next 10 days.
