The Miami basketball team has signed twins Hanna and Haley Cavinder for their final season in college. Miami adds two of the biggest social media stars in collegiate athletics. The Cavinders each have more than 400,000 Instagram followers and shared TikTok account with more than four million.

Using their social media accounts, the Cavinders announced their decision to transfer to the Miami basketball program on Thursday night. Miami gets a huge boost offensively with the addition of the Cavinders. Hanna has 1,260 career points, 298 assists, 259 rebounds, 136 steals and 86 three-point shots made.

Haley has 1,469 career points, 557 rebounds, 350 assists, 124 steals and 175 three-point shots made. The Cavinders leave a Fresno State program that finished 11-18 in 2021-22. Miami finished 21 – 13 advanced to the ACC Tournament Championship Game and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Haley was named All-Mountain West each of the last three seasons, the 2020 MWC Freshman of the Year and 2021 Player of the Year. Haley also led the MWC in scoring every year she was in the league. Hanna earned All-MWC in each of the last two seasons. The Cavinders help full the loss of four players from the 2021-22 roster.

Hanna Cavinder told Front Office Sports “I know that a lot of people can assume it could be about NIL…have the best opportunity to get to the March Madness tournament.” She added that the leadership of the coaching staff and future business opportunities played a role with the education in their decision to transfer to Miami.

The Cavinders also have 71.6 thousand YouTube subscribers. Fort Lauderdale-based attorney Darren Heitner represents the Cavinders. Among a plethora of college social media influencers, the Cavinders are one of the biggest. One of the deals is with WWE where they could follow Miami legend, Dwayne Johnson.

On and off the court signing the Cavinders is a huge boost for head coach Katie Meier and the Miami basketball program. The additions of the Cavinders help Miami on and off the court. Having the Cavinders on the roster improves the talent on the Miami roster and increases the publicity for Katie Meier’s program.
