The Miami football program signed Dazalin Worsham in the Class of 2020 after he was previously an Alabama commit, Worsham was only able to get on the field in the 52-10 Miami victory over Florida State during the 2020 season. News broke late on Friday night that Worsham intends to enter the transfer portal.

Worsham did not catch a pass in his two seasons with Miami. The three-star signee was the 503rd ranked player, 82nd wide receiver and 20th in Alabama in the Class of 2020. Worsham was arguably the last scholarship receiver on the Miami depth chart after spring practice. Breaking the rotation would have been difficult.

Keyshawn Smith is the lone returning starting WR for Miami entering the 2022 season. Xavier Restrepo is the projected starting slot receiver. Jacolby George seems to have the inside track to be the other starting WR for Miami after spring practice. Clemson transfer Frank Ladson and Romello Brinson will challenge George.

According to 247 Sports, Worsham will have four years of eligibility remaining with his next program. Worsham was an Under Armour All-American in high school. At Hewitt-Trussville High School in four seasons, Worsham had 215 receptions for 2,369 receiving yards with 28 touchdowns during his high school career.

Brashad Smith will backup Restrepo in the slot and receive a lot of snaps. Rising third-year redshirt freshman Michael Redding III, Restrepo and Keyshawn Smith were in the 2020 class with Worsham. Redding has four receptions for 22 yards and a TD in his first two seasons. At 6’2, 202 pounds, Redding gives Miami good size.

The report late on Friday night that Worsham intends to transfer came after news earlier in the day that defensive lineman Cameron Williams, linebacker Deshawn Troutman and punter Nelson Foley and have officially entered the transfer portal. All three were projected to be Miami football backups in 2022.
