Charlotte offensive lineman Dmitri Emmanuel has the potential to be an immediate starter for the Miami football team after tweeting on Monday that he received an offer from the Hurricanes. Emmanuel has made 24 consecutive starts from 2019 through 2021. Emmanuel signed with Charlotte in the Class of 2017.

A versatile OL, Emmanuel has started at both tackle spots and left guard for Charlotte. Throughout his Charlotte career, Emmanuel was named to various All-Conference USA teams. Miami would likely play on the right side of the OL with D.J. Scaife. Emmanuel and Scaife can both play guard and tackle.

Since entering the portal, Miami is the only school Emmanuel mentioned on Twitter. Florida State is also pursuing Emmanuel. Emmanuel played under Florida State OL coach Alex Atkins at Charlotte in 2019. Emmanuel would be the 12th transfer Miami has added entering the 2022 season and the third OL.

Jonathan Denis and Logan Sagapolu previously transferred to Miami from Oregon. Denis and Sagapolu were recruited to Oregon by new Miami head coach Mario Cristobal. Emmanuel was offered scholarships out of high school from ACC programs, Boston College, North Carolina, Syracuse and Wake Forest.

In addition to Scaife, Miami is projected to start on the left side, Zion Nelson at tackle and Jalen Rivers at guard with Jakai Clark at center. Mario Cristobal is quickly remaking the Miami lines defensively and offensively. At 6’2, 306 pounds, Emmanuel would provide Miami with excellent size upfront.

Emmanuel is a better pass blocker than a run blocker. The entire Miami OL needs to improve in run blocking in 2022. Cristobal and OL coach Alex Mirabal will continue to make recruiting the OL a priority. Emmanuel would be a good one-year solution as the Hurricanes continue to add talent on the OL.

Miami also signed 2022 three-star OL Anez Cooper and Matthew McCoy. Cooper and McCoy project as developmental players who need time in the program to mature. With Cristobal as a former OL, the play upfront will become more of a priority for the Miami football program in the future.
