Central Florida wide receiver Jaylon Robinson who is visiting the Miami football program on Wednesday and Thursday has moved up his commitment date from May 18 to the 15 in a tweet posted on Tuesday.  Robinson entered the transfer portal on April 21 and has taken visits to Mississippi, TCU, and Tennessee.

Robinson began his collegiate career with Oklahoma in 2018 before transferring to UCF. Connecting with quarterback Dillon Gabriel who has now ironically transferred to Oklahoma, Robinson broke out with 55 receptions for 979 yards and six touchdowns during the 2020 season.

The 5’9 180-pound Robinson would compete to be the starting slot receiver at Miami with returnees, rising third-year sophomore Xavier Restrepo and rising sophomore Breshad Smith. Robinson originally signed with Oklahoma in the Class of 2018 as an athlete and kick returner.

Robinson was the 440th ranked player, 32nd athlete and 63rd in Texas in 2018. Miami previously added Frank Ladson from Clemson as the only transfer WR to the roster for 2022. Miami has signed 11 transfers since Mario Cristobal was hired as the new head coach in December. Only four transfers have been on offense.

Robinson will finish up his visit with the Miami football program, take the weekend and announce his next college destination. On3 projects Mississippi with a 94.3 percent chance to sign Robinson. Miami would gain experience to a WR corps that doesn’t have much. The Hurricanes lost their two leading receivers from 2021.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported on Wednesday that linebacker Sam Brooks is expected to enter the transfer portal. The Miami football roster continues to evolve with Cristobal as head coach. Brooks would be the 10th player since the end of the 2021 season to enter the transfer portal from Miami.

The deadline to enter the transfer portal and maintain eligibility for the 2022 season was May 1. Players who transfer between now and the start of the 2022 season would have to petition the NCAA for immediate eligibility. August training camp could have another group of players enter the transfer portal nationally.
