The Miami football program will host top five 2023 safety Joenel Aguero the weekend of June 24 per his tweet on Monday afternoon. The 247 Sports composite rankings have Aguero as the 49th player, third safety and second in Massachusetts in the 2023 Class. Aguero is 34th, fourth and first in the On3 consensus rankings.

Safety is a position the Miami football program will likely have to start building toward in the Class of 2023. Miami safeties Avantae Williams and Brian Balom are eligible for the 2023 NFL Draft. Kamren Kinchens and James Williams will be eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft. Miami signed Markeith Williams in the Class of 2023.

Georgia is the clear leader for Aguero. All four 247 Sports crystal balls logged in November project Aguero to commit to Georgia. The On3 prediction machine projects Georgia with a 92.3 percent chance to sign Aguero. Ohio State is second at 2.4 percent and Miami is third with a two percent chance for a commitment from Aguero.

Aguero will be in Coral Gables, on the weekend of the premier summer camp for head coach Mario Cristobal. The new Miami staff has changed the thinking of numerous prospects. Aguero is the latest Hurricanes prospect to notice the change as told to 247 Sports. Miami doesn’t have any safeties committed for 2023.

Miami Defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae is leading the recruitment for Aguero per 247 Sports. Addae was previously the DB coach at Georgia before Mario Cristobal hired him away during the 2022 offseason. June 24 will be a busy weekend for Miami with official visits. At least seven prospects will be in Coral Gables that weekend.

Addae was the second-ranked recruiter in the country in 2022 with Georgia. Three five-star Georgia signees and two four-stars in the Class of 2022 were credited to Addae. Addae is part of a Miami staff full of elite recruiters. Addae being on the Miami staff should help the Hurricanes gain ground in the recruitment of Aguero.
