The Miami football program will host four-star recruits offensive tackle Olaus Alinen and edge rusher Ta’Mere Robinson plus three-star safety Jayden Bonsu beginning as official visits open up the first weekend of June. Miami has significant ground to make up in gaining commitments for any of those three prospects.

Alinen is a 6’6, 315-pound offensive tackle. The 247 Sports composite rankings rank Alinen as the 109th player, 12th OT and number one in Connecticut for 2023. Alinen has two 247 Sports Crystal Balls projecting him to commit to Alabama. The On3.Com prediction machine projects Alinen to Alabama at 65.7 percent.

Robinson is the 145th player, 12th edge rusher and third in Pennsylvania in the Class of 2023. Both crystal balls from 247 project Robinson to commit to Penn State. The On3 Prediction Machine projects Penn State with a 93.7 percent chance to receive a commitment from Robinson. Miami is at 1.3 percent.

The 247 Sports composite rankings have Bonsu as the 366th player, 35th safety and fourth in New Jersey for 2023. Bonsu is rated four stars by On3. One 247 Sports Crystal Ball projects Bonsu to sign with Ohio State. The On3 Prediction Machine projects Ohio State at 84.3 percent chance to receive a commitment from Bonsu.

Alinen is an unusual player who originally received his scholarship offer from Miami as a native of Finland. Alinen now attends The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut. Three-star OL Antonio Tripp is the only player at his position in the five-commit 2023 Miami class. Mario Cristobal has emphasized linemen.

Miami has added four OL and eight defensive linemen since Cristobal was hired in December. The former OL wants Miami to become tougher on the line of scrimmage. It’s not surprising two of the three visits this weekend play upfront. Miami does not have a DL or defensive back committed for 2023 either.

The next month with 22 visits currently scheduled will be critical for Cristobal and the Miami football staff. Five players committed to Miami in the Class of 2023 is low compared to other Power Five programs. Miami needs to start setting a foundation for 2023. None of the current 2023 Miami commits are in the top 175.
