The Miami baseball regional has had another time change. Miami will play Canisius at 5 PM eastern time as announced via the Miami baseball Twitter account on Saturday morning. This is the third schedule change in a regional that has thus far been plagued by rain. Coral Gables has received over nine inches of rain in 24 hours.

Arizona and Mississippi are scheduled to play about 55 minutes following the conclusion of Canisius and Miami. There is a 55 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms at 5 PM in Coral Gables. That dissipates to under 50 percent beginning at 6 PM. The Coral Gables regional might not conclude until Tuesday.

The chance of rina in Coral Gables lowers on Sunday and Monday. Miami is hosting an NCAA regional for the first time since 2016. The NCAA makes the decisions on game times and any rescheduling due to weather. Miami enters the regional after completing a 39-20 record during the 2022 regular season.

Canisius is 29-23, Arizona 37-23 and Mississippi 32-22. Miami is the top seed hosting the regional, Arizona second, Mississippi third and Canisius fourth. The Coral Gables regional was the only one in the 2022 NCAA Tournament to get completely rained out on Friday. The Statesboro, Georgia regional had one game rained out.

The weather in Coral Gables was expected this weekend. Remnants of Hurricane Agatha have morphed into potential tropical storm, Alex. Miami is attempting to reach its first super regional and College World Series since 2016. As the sixth national seed, Miami would host the super regional if it advances.

Miami last hosted the super regional in 2016. That was also the last time Miami advanced to the College World Series. Arizona and Mississippi played each other last season in the Tucson super regional with the Wildcats advancing to the College World Series. Arizona defeated Miami in the 2016 College World Series.

Mississippi last advanced to the College World Series in 2014. Canisius is making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance, all since 2013. The Golden Griffins have lost all six games in their three previous trips to the NCAA Tournament. Neither Canisius nor Miami have announced their Saturday pitchers in the opener.
