Miami football likely out of running for 4-star QB Jaden Rashada
The Miami football program appears to be out of the running for a commitment from four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada. Rashada will announce his commitment on Saturday. Miami never received an official visit from Rashada. Florida, LSU, Mississippi and Texas A&M have received official visits from Rashada.
Rashada took an unofficial visit to the Miami football program in March after receiving a scholarship offer in February. There is no 247 Sports crystal ball projecting which program Rashada will commit to. The On3 Prediction Machine lists Florida as the slight favorite with a 26.1 percent chance for a Rashada commitment.
Texas A&M is second at 22.3 percent, Miami is third at 18.1, Oregon fourth at 13 and LSU is the only other program with a double-digit projection at 11.9. Rashada is listed as the 45th player, seventh QB and fifth in California in the Class of 2023. Rashada is the third-highest ranked uncommitted QB in the Class of 2023.
Brandon Huffman of 247 Sports projects Texas A&M as the leader to receive a commitment from Rashada. Huffman profiled the five programs above plus California five days before Rashada announces his commitment. Expect one of the SEC programs listed to receive the commitment from Rashada.
"MIAMI HURRICANES“Coming out of his unofficial visit to Miami earlier this spring, the ‘Canes looked liked they had taken a firm lead in Rashada’s recruitment. He had played in a 7v7 tournament with the Miami Immortals, had spent a lot of time around key Miami commits and recruits and had been a target of Mario Cristobal since Cristobal was at Oregon. The ‘Canes, though, never got an official visit like expected. While there is a slim chance he’ll visit there this week, we still think it’s a longshot that Rashada ends up at Miami. Yes, he did play with the Immortals again this past weekend in Las Vegas, but everything we’ve heard is Miami has faded in the recruitment and that Rashada is SEC-bound.”"
Miami is still waiting for a QB commit in the 2023 Class. The Hurricanes have been in the discussion for five-star 2023 QB Dante Moore. Miami reportedly leads for three-star 2023 QB Emory Williams. Williams took an unofficial visit to Miami last month and will take an official visit this weekend.
Heading into the 2023 season, Miami will likely lose Tyler Van Dyke to the NFL Draft with another big season. Behind Van Dyke are four-star QBs, 2021 signee Jake Garcia and incoming freshman Jacurri Brown. Miami also has 2022 fourth-year sophomore Peyton Matocha who adds experience and depth.
