Miami football standing top 6 for 4-star LB Raul Aguirre July 16 committment
Four-star linebacker Raul Aguirre named the Miami football program as one of the six finalists ahead of his July 16 commitment date. Miami is competing with Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia and Ohio State for a commitment from Aguirre. According to On3.Com the recruitment for Aguirre is wide open.
Alabama leads the recruitment with a 20.2 percent chance to receive a commitment from Aguirre, Florida is second at 17.7 percent, Ohio State is at 15.1, and the Miami football program at 9.5. Aguirre has taken official visits to Alabama, Florida and Texas this month and will visit Ohio State this upcoming weekend.
Aguirre has taken three unofficial visits to Miami. No official visit from Aguirre to Miami is scheduled per his On3 profile. Co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Charlie Strong is leading the Miami recruitment for Aguirre. Earlier this month Rivals.Com projected that Aguirre will eventually commit to Miami.
The Fayetteville, Georgia Whitewater star told On3 that he has always loved Miami. Aguirre is originally from South Florida. Miami has had good success in recent years signing players from Georgia. According to CaneSport, Aguirre’s father played at Miami Columbus, which happens to be the alma mater of Mario Cristobal.
"Miami“Ever since I was a kid Miami has always been my favorite school…Just the swag and I’m originally from Miami, so the love will definitely always be there. My dad has a great relationship with all the coaches from highschool so that’s special to me.”"
Miami currently has seven players committed to its 2023 Class. Three-star linebacker Bobby Washington is the only defensive player committed to Miami for 2023. With official visits coming to end this coming weekend, Miami should begin to receive more commitments. Aguirre would be a huge addition to the 2023 Miami class.
Miami has a big weekend of visits coming up with five of those prospects on defense. The Hurricanes need to add LBs to its 2023 class. Wesley Bissainthe was the only LB to sign with Miami in 2022. The Miami also added UCLA transfer Caleb Johnson who is expected to start for the Hurricanes at middle LB.
