The additions of guard Nijel Pack and forward Nochad Omier will allow the Miami basketball program to contend at the top of the ACC in 2022-23. Issac Trotter of 247 Sports discussed the “College basketball transfer portal: Examining the potential role for each ACC addition.” Omier and Pack are among the top ACC transfers.

The Miami basketball team adds Pack as the point guard to take over for Charlie Moore who used up his eligibility. Moore was more of a traditional point guard. Pack is a combo guard who is a great scorer with the ability to set up his teammates. The summary from Trotter makes Pack’s game sound like Stephen Curry.

Pack averaged 17.4 points per game, 3.8 rebounds, 2,2 assists and shot 45.5 percent from the floor and made 43.6 percent of his three-point attempts for Kansas State last season. Omier will provide the Miami basketball team with an inside-out balance and give the Hurricanes a low post scorer they did not have last season.

Omier averaged 17.9 PPG, 12.2 RPG and shot 63.1 percent from the floor. With Omier and Anthony Walker projected to start on the front line with Jordan Miller on the wing, Miami will be much more adept inside in 2022-23 than they were last season. Miami will still be able to play the scramble defense when they need to.

"MIAMIG Nijel Pack: A knockdown shooter just arrived at a shooting guard’s paradise. Miami is ready to hand Pack a monster role, and the Kansas State transfer is bringing his heater with him. Pack is an elite 3-point sniper from all over the floor. He has immense range, and you basically have to guard him from the moment he crosses halfcourt.Pack and Isaiah Wong should have the ball in their hands a lot, and Pack could instantly assert himself as the ACC’s best 3-point shooter and one of the elite guards in the league.F Norchad Omier: Other guys on the team might score more, but Omier is going to impact winning at a really high level. He’s a fantastic athlete with the ability to guard pick-‘n’-rolls and also protect the rim. Omier will be Miami’s best rebounder and he can pass, too.Miami’s four-guard lineups could open up the paint or Omier to be at his best."

Brady Manek of North Carolina and Joseph Girard of Syracuse were the co-leaders in the ACC last season making 40.3 percent of their three-point shots. Pack would be significantly ahead of that. Armando Bacot led the ACC with 13.1 RPG and returns for North Carolina. Miami could have the best inside-out tandem in the ACC.

The additions of Omier and Pack helped the Miami depth in addition to increasing the talent on the roster. Guards Bensley Joseph and Wooga Poplar will have another season to learn the Jim Larranaga system before potentially becoming starters for the 2023-24 season. Joseph and Poplar will be important in the 2022-23 rotation.
