The Miami football program will have a busy week of top football prospects announcing their college commitments. Five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa who is a major Miami prospect will announce his college commitment on July 4 he tweeted on Sunday. Miami is one of six finalists for Mauigoa.

Alabama, Florida, Hawaii, Tennessee and USC are the five programs that Miami is competing with for a commitment from Mauigoa. Mauigoa is the 13th ranked player, second OT and third in Florida out of IMG Academy. Two of the seven players committed to the 2023 Miami football class are offensive linemen.

Interior OL Antonio Tripp and OT Frankie Tinilau are both three-star prospects. Mauigoa and Tinilau are both Samoan. No crystal balls are currently logged by 247 Sports projecting which program will receive a commitment from Mauigoa. On.3.com lists Tennessee with a 50.7 percent chance for a commitment from Mauigoa.

USC is the second favorite at 43.0 percent. Miami is a distant third at 2.4 percent. Mauigoa had a busy June taking all five of his official visits in a two-week span. Hawaii was the only one of Mauigoa’s six finalists he did not visit. Mauigoa has been praised for his athleticism at 6’5, 330 pounds with a 5.3-second 40-yard dash.

Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports reported Mauigoa was primarily a right tackle for IMG as a junior but projects more as an IOL in college. Mauigoa would have the benefit that Cristobal works with the OL as a former player that played the position. Ivins projects Mauigoa as a multi-year college starter and future first-round pick.
