In his weekly Tuesday column, Adam Gorney of Rivals.Com asked about Miami Hurricanes QB commit “is Jaden Rashada a five-star (prospect) now?” Rivals currently ranks Rashada as the 30th player, third in California and sixth QB in the Class of 2023. Rivals ranks 19 players in their 2023 rankings as five-stars.

Rashada committed to the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday after taking an official visit to Coral Gables last week. Four QBs in the Rivals rankings are five stars. Rashada will compete at the Elite 11 QB camp this weekend with five-star 2023 QBs Nico Iamaleava, Dante Moore and Malachi Nelson.

Texas commit Arch Manning is the only five-star QB not participating at Elite 11. Iamaleava is committed to Tennessee, Moore is uncommitted and Nelson is pledged to USC. Three-star Miami QB commit Emory Williams is also participating at Elite 11. Performances at Elite 11 could precipitate movement in the QB rankings.

Miami is the only program with two participants at the Elite 11. Rashada is currently the highest-ranked 2023 Miami commit. Rivals has continually moved Rashada up in their rankings. Rashada was ranked as low as 113th last November. Rashada is the highest-ranked Miami QB commit since Kyle Wright in 2003 per 247 Sports.

"“There might not have been a better quarterback at the OT7 event than Jaden Rashada and he’s been excellent elsewhere and if he has a great week at the Elite 11 then there could be a move coming up for the new Miami commitment.I’ve always liked Rashada a lot and it really started after seeing him at the Pylon event in Bullhead City, Ariz., more than a year ago. He’s been consistently great ever since, he’s developed physically, his ability to make the tough throws look easy is maybe better than anybody in the class…So being in the five-star discussion should not be a surprise. A solid showing at the Elite 11 could be the final straw.”"

Twenty QBs will compete at the Elite 11. With Manning not attending, Rashada is the fifth-ranked QB at Elite 11. At 6’4, 180 pounds, Rashada has ideal height with room to fill out more. Chris Singletary of 247 Sports praised Rashada’s mobility, effortless throwing motion and ability to get the ball out quickly.

Rashada has quickly embraced being a leader in the 2023 Miami recruiting class. Just a few hours after his commitment, Rashada reached out to three potential Miami prospects via Twitter. A good performance at Elite 11 should elevate Rashada’s profile in the 2023 recruiting class rankings before he signs in December.
