Miami Hurricanes quarterback Emory Williams has shown nice consistency early at the Elite 11 camp. Williams is competing at the Los Angeles-based camp with four-star QB Jaden Rashada who is also committed to Miami. Williams committed to the Hurricanes earlier this month before Rashada’s commitment on Sunday.

Rashada and Williams would become the first pair of QBs to sign with Miami in the same class since Brad Kaaya and Malik Rosier in 2014. Williams has a chance to exceed his three-star ranking and as the 45th best QB in the 2023 class. At the least, Williams will provide Miami with a backup QB with a lot of upside.

Williams has received praise as a passer with good arm talent. As a junior at Milton, Florida, Williams completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,168 yards, 16 touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for four scores. The Miami Hurricanes will have a lot of QB depth through 2026.

Williams getting invited to compete at Elite 11 which has only 20 QBs was impressive. It provides him a chance to compete with the best 2023 QBs and should help him grow with the instruction provided there. Greg Biggins of 247 Sports was impressed with Williams on Day one and summarized his performance.

"NO. 11 EMORY WILLAMS (MIAMI COMMIT)Emory Williams, Milton (Fla.)- Miami“Coming into tonight, Williams was a guy we were intrigued to see in person and he didn’t disappoint. He played with consistency on his throws. The Miami commit showed solid mechanics with nice spin on his throws.Physically he has a well developed lower body with a lot of room to add strength and mass in his upper body as well.”"

Williams has excellent size at 6’4.5, 190 pounds with the ability to fill out more into his body. As a freshman in 2023, Williams will be projected to be behind 2021 Miami signee Jake Garcia, 2022 signee Jacurri Brown and Rashada with veteran Peyton Matocha also having eligibility remaining.

Williams chose Miami over other Power Five programs Indiana, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin with multiple Group of Five schools also offering him scholarships. The consistency shows maturity in how Williams plays. Once Williams gets in the Miami strength and conditioning program, he should continue to develop.
