The Miami football program received a commitment from four-star tight end, Riley Williams, on Friday. Williams is the 66th ranked player, second TE and 15th in Florida in the Class of 2023 out of IMG Academy. Miami moves up from the 22nd ranked 2023 Class to 14th with the addition of Williams.

Williams is the third TE committed to Miami for 2023 after Jackson Carver and Reid Mikeska last month. Williams is the second-highest-rated commit to Miami for 2023 after four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada. Miami has added four blue-chip commits in the last week including Rashada and Williams.

Cornerback Robert Stafford and wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph have also committed to the Miami football program in the last week. Miami now has five blue-chip prospects committed for 2023. The Hurricanes also have a commitment from four-star WR Robby Washington. Miami has 11 players committed for 2023.

Williams is transferring to IMG from Portland, Oregon for his senior season. The relationship Williams had with the Miami staff when they were at Oregon dates back to his sophomore year in high school played a significant role in his decision to commit to the Hurricanes. Williams chose Miami over Alabama and Ohio State.

Williams announced his commitment to Miami on the 247 Sports YouTube channel. Alabama, Miami and Ohio State all received official visits from Williams in June. Williams also had an unofficial visit to Miami in January. The move from Portland to IMG brought Williams much closer to Miami.

Miami is continuing to rise up the 2023 recruiting rankings. The Hurricanes should continue to add blue-chip commits throughout July. Rashada has been openly recruiting players via social media since he committed on Sunday. The addition of Williams provides Rashada with another player to help recruit elite prospects.

Miami is building their 2023 recruiting class slowly with blue chip prospects at the skill position players on offense. The Hurricanes are still missing a running back. Miami TE coach Stephen Field led the Miami recruitment of Williams. Mario Cristobal’s staff has quickly made an impact in recruiting.
