Miami football could receive multiple commitments Friday
The Miami football program could add as many as three commitments on Friday. Four-star prospects, tight end Riley Williams at 6 PM and edge rusher Jaxon Howard at 12:36 ET will announce their commitments on Friday. Williams is the only one trending to Miami.
Update: Edge rusher Collins Acheampong has pushed back his commitment date to be announced at a later time.
Crystal balls from 247 Sports National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman, Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and David Lake of Inside the U have all projected Williams to commit to Miami within the last 10 days. Those are the only projections from 247 Sports that have been logged projecting where Williams will commit.
Williams would be the third tight end to commit to Miami for 2023. The 247 Sports composite rankings have Williams as the 77th overall player, fourth TE and 18th in Florida in the Class of 2023. The Miami football program previously received commitments from TEs Jackson Carver and Reid Mikeska.
Acheampong is trending to Michigan with all five crystal balls projecting him to the Wolverines including one from Wiltfong. Miami received a visit from Acheampong last weekend and Michigan two weeks prior. The lanky edge rusher would fit with the other players at the position Miami has on the roster.
Acheampong is the 271st ranked player, 16th ranked athlete and 17th in California for 2023. Miami began trending for five-star edge rusher Jayden Wayne earlier this week. Wayne is ranked 30th overall, the fifth-ranked edge rusher and ninth in Florida in the Class of 2023. Mario Cristobal has been successful in recruiting edge rushers.
Howard is trending to LSU with two crystal balls including one by Wiltfong. The 247 Sports rankings have Howard as the 96th ranked player, 11th edge rusher and the top player in Minnesota. Miami will have other opportunities for edge rushers including Wayne. The Hurricanes do not currently have a defensive lineman for 2023.
Wayne has not yet set a commitment date. Miami has moved up to the 20th-ranked 2023 class with the addition of four-star commits, cornerback Robert Stafford, quarterback Jaden Rashada and wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph in the last week. Miami should continue to move up the standings in the next month.
